Where can I get this special paint for voltage regulator cover? Best in Europe. Any source?

Thanks, Lad.

Hi Lad.
Easy, on Amazon.nl...or perhpas on Amazon in other countries.
This is the spray I have been using for my regulator : VHT Wrinkle Plus GSP 201

https://www.amazon.nl/VHT-GSP201-krimpf ... 9191&psc=1

I have bought my spray from ebay uk, if I remember
Yves

Yves,

From memory the early regulators did have plain type paint instead of wrinkled. Am I correct?

If so, what paint should be used for the early ones without the reinforcement ribs?

Thanks,

Jos

Hi Jos,
Sorry, I have no idea for early jeeps regulators.
Jeepdraw mentions this :
"Very early VRY regulators had a smooth finish."

Hi Yves,

Only just found out I got a reply  , apologies.

It maybe the aging, but when looking at early regulator pictures I doubt they had wrinkle style paint from factory.

Example:

Looks like a smooth finish, doesn't it?

Cheers,

Jos

Hi Jos,
Yes, it looks like that the early GPW had a regulator with smooth finish.
But Lad asked a question about the special paint.
Where can I get this special paint for voltage regulator cover? Best in Europe. Any source?

Thanks, Lad.

If I may ask the follow up question?

What dates constitute "Early"?

I have a January '43 GPW (Louisville Branch) with no ribs.

Black paint? Wrinkle or No wrinkle?

I think you guys are mixing your terms. A "smooth" version means no ribs on the cover.

All of the original housings have the black wrinkle finish paint.

A Jan '43 MB or GPW would have the "smooth" style.

The later "ribbed" style showed up around Oct. '43 in MB's and around Dec. '43 or Jan '44 for GPW's.

Hope this helps,
Peter
