M31C build and source for material
I've been building my M31C mount for a while now using prints from Jeep Draw.
A local welding shop had the T angle. It is a tad rusty and lightly pitted but very solid. He gets $50 for 8ft cut into 3 pcs for shipping. Plus shipping cost. It measures just a hair under 2" wide, maybe 1-15/16. It's also 2" overall on the 3rd leg. 1/4" thick. I milled mine down to 1.5" East Side Welding 860-223-2247. I thought this was a great price!

Are you in Europe? That steel price is bonkers high...
If this turns out well, would you consider selling a couple copies of the lathe turned piece?

You can get them on Ebay. Way too much work on a manual lathe to make any money! I did it for the challenge as much as to save money.
I didn't think the steel price was bad, it's 1/4" stock, pretty heavy stuff, and not easy to find. I'm in CT USA. McMaster gets $120 for 6 ft...
Midwest steel and aluminum is where I ordered the main pipe and other bits, their pricing is pretty good.

Anyone who thinks steel prices are high hasn't purchase steel lately. It's a new world out there.

Give it a few more months for the current administration to work on it.

Re: M31C build and source for material
Can anyone confirm the correct original size of the T angle? Based on the prints I inferred 2" wide and 1.5" deep overall.

Unfortunately the print showed the rear leg brackets at 90 degrees apart. Another drawing shows them quite a bit further apart. (Expletive!)
Looking forward to cutting them off and rewelding, Not!

Link to video of simulation of CNC machining one of the parts for the mount. In actuality, the part will be flipped a few times, but the simulation is pretty cool...

I'm not gonna lie, this thing was a lot of work. Milled from 1.5" thick plate steel.
Still coming up to speed on tool paths, speeds and feeds, cutter selection etc...
Cad model in solidworks top tool paths in MasterCam milling interior of clevis inner and outer contour finished, piece left for support machining side profiles and holes finished clevis
