Deep Mud Exhaust bracket K
Need help! Looking for a picture of Bracket K on the deep mud exhaust system for my 45MB. It clamps the muffler and pipe and bolts to the frame. I was thinking it was the same as bracket H puctured but it has a different part number. Anyway have the correct bracket on their 45MB?
I’ve seen plenty of pictures of GPWs but they use a hanger bracket vice bolting to a frame crossmember. So I’m not sure if the bracket is the same as on an MB.

Re: Deep Mud Exhaust bracket K
My 45 MB only had a couple of original brackets left over as it had been converted by a PO to a side muffler. Type "H" would have been pretty close to the correct shape for position "K", but I could not track down a photo of an original "K". The only left over "K" clamp from an AJP complete deep mud kit wasn't quite right and i ended up making an L-shaped bracket to get the supplied "K" bolted on (maybe it was correct for a GPW?). Anyway I am attaching photos, including that of the original "N". Hope this helps. Thanks.

Re: Deep Mud Exhaust bracket K
GSS,
Thanks for the pictures. The clamp in the AJP kit is not even close. I really dont understand how that is. Anyway I am doing a factory restoration so I want the correct clamp. Now the clamp looks very similiar to the clamp that is used to mount the side mounted muffler to the body. However, the part numbers are not the same so something has to be differnet.
If anyone has an original they want to get rid of or can get me deminsions that would be greatly appreciated!!

Re: Deep Mud Exhaust bracket K
Hopefully someone has a photo or original of a “K” bracket for an MB as I would love to have one as well. This is the only part that I have not been able to track down during my complete ground up restoration. Type H wouldn’t be correct either as it’s length would tip the rear end of the muffler too high.

Re: Deep Mud Exhaust bracket K
Carsten,
Was that off an MB or NOS? The reason I ask is I was shown a picture of one off an MB and it looks slightly different. The clamp portion was offset to one side. I have seen your type on GPWs. The 49 SNL has a Ford Only bracket and Willy only bracket for K. That might explain the difference.

Re: Deep Mud Exhaust bracket K
Agreed. In looking at how my exhaust lines up, the hanger would need to be offset. Hopefully we can get a photo of the one that you saw, and get it uploaded here. Thanks.

Re: Deep Mud Exhaust bracket K
The bracket shown is NOS, but I have one exactly similar in the same place, on the forward end of the muffler, on my 45 MB. It fits fine.
I can’t guarantee if the NOS bracket is a Ford FM-GPW-5253 or a Willys WO-A-9086.

Re: Deep Mud Exhaust bracket K
I just found some of my exhaust brackets, and came across FM-GPW-5298 / WO-A-6119 CLAMP, muffler tail pipe.
It is used only on the side exhaust system, but the way you described how you think that WO-A-9086 should look, it made me wonder if this is what you meant?
I don’t think that the WO-A-6119 were used on the Deep Mud Exhaust reborn as FM-GPW-5253 or WO-A-9086.

Re: Deep Mud Exhaust bracket K
It sure looks like 9086 will work especially since it worked for you. The mounting hole is far away from the bend in the bracket and so the offset looks correct. Thank you for posting this. I will see if I can buy one in the US and try it.
Meanwhile it will be nice to see if TJ can find a photo of what he saw. Thanks.
Best regards,

Re: Deep Mud Exhaust bracket K
Carsten,
Found additional information......WO-A-9086 is actually listed as the correct bracket in Ron’s catalog. I didn’t realize that it had nice schematics of all 3 variants of mufflers and their parts.
GPW 5276 seems to be what I have on my 45 MB. If you or anyone else has an extra 9086 that they may be willing to sell, please let me know. Thanks.

Re: Deep Mud Exhaust bracket K
Sorry been busy. Ok so I am a little confused now. Here is a picture of an original Bracket K off Brendan Gibbon's MB-NB. It was the only bracket he had left. As you can see it looks similiar to the WO-A-6119 bracket for the side exhaust. There has to be something differnet because it is a differnet part# then WO-A9086. I only suggested the 6119 bracket as a placeholder.
If the Ford and Willys Bracket K were the samething it would be listed as one item in the SNL with the two part #s. It is not listed that way. GPW5253 states its Ford only and WO-A9086 states Willys only. So they are differnet. I believe what Brendan has is WO-A9086 and what Carsten has is GPW5253.
