Home built rotisserie. plans, units, etc
Does anyone have a home built rotisserie they can place their body tub on. If they have plans they could share I would like to get some ideas. My plan is to use 2 engine stands but whatever you may have to share idea or reality wise would be great. Especially any brackets to hold the body tub in place. Best wishes; Leo

Hi Leo,
Just as an idea, this is the very simple "rotissoire" I've used during my jeep restoration.
No need to spend hours or €€€ for a rotissoire.
The tub stayed on the "rotissoire" during many years ! (10 years)
The tub could rotate on 360°.
The wood supports are simple but heavy duty trestles for outdoor tables used during local fairs !
A wood block with a hole for the shaft is screwed in the top middle of the supports.
The wood block has also a hole in line with the rotissoire shaft in order to block the tub in multiple positions (45°) by means of a big nail or pin.
How the back of the tub was attached. Quickly welded rotissoire-to-tub interface. How the front of the tub was attached. The rotissoire was also very useful to rewire the jeep with a new harness.

Hello
My tub is not on the rotisserie so I took some pictures of the hardware I made.
It is simple and can be taken apart. I used stands of garden umbrellas and I put some wheels under it.
detail:
These are pictures with a tub attached and less rust on the rotisserie
:
Hope this helps
Greetings
Hans

Re: Home built rotisserie. plans, units, etc
I made brackets similar to those in the pictures and bolted the cross bars to two engine stands as Leo suggested.
I liked the stand on wheels. Wheels and mobility are always good. Especially if you take 10 years to do the tub.
( sorry Yves. The devil made me do it ! )
And I would suggest keeping the cross bars as close to the center of gravity as possible. Makes turning the tub a whole lot easier.

Hello,
I like the Willik43 one. It is similar indeed as mine but It is better made in the front. One only needs one bolt each side. I do not know why I did use two bolts on each side. Probably something I saw somewhere else.
The back portion has a plus also. It allows one to work on the rear section and the corners. You need two different hight support poles though and maybe that is not so good for this center of gravity thing.
Nice.
Next time ...
Greetings
Hans
PS Yves, of course I like your 'rotissoire' also

10 years (spare time and alone) for the tub AND the rest of the jeep, including the engine rebuild .
One day, my daughter told me that my grandchildren would never see my jeep running.
It was like a kick in the a....
Now we are all happy since the tub is no longer stuck on the rotissoire ! Yves

Here is the rotisserie I built 2 1/2 years ago for less than $50.00 that I'm still using. I rolls real easy and rotates 360 degrees just as easy. It was easy to build and is very sturdy.

Jeepers,
My rotisserie is very similar to the ones shown. I happened to have a boat trailer in the back yard for a 12' boat I had sold and it was gathering rust. I converted it to a rotisserie and can move it anywhere including towing short distances in town for repairs if needed. AND, don't fret about how long yours has been on the rotisserie. Mine has been up three years, but just retired and going full speed ahead. If I had the know-how I would post pictures.

For better center of gravity I have 2 different back supports.
Use depends on what you are working. Have a very nice summer time.

I agree, Mark. Good looking group. I like the jeep and the surroundings as well.
If it is any consolation, Yves, it took me 5 years to do GPW 964 and I did it alone.
