Re: Help with value please.
In CA you don't need a title bond or anything else, you just need to fill out the forms, have it inspected with a "VIN verification" by a LEO or DMV and pay for the registration and title....no $1k, but some time spent at the DMV.
Been there, done that with my Bantam trailer. No papers, just a Bill of Sale.

Re: Help with value please.
If the SN is a little high for a slat, it’s possible it’s a Scripted tub & STAMPED grill from the factory. Those are likely more rare than slats as it was a transitional jeep.

Re: Help with value please.
I was reading threads here (I believe) over the last couple of days and came across a spreadsheet of the different jeeps by month of delivery, and I cant find it again, ugg. But it reflected what you mention. The MB script Jeep with stamped grill was only made a couple of months.

A silent auction?
don't waste yuour time. You won't win.
There is a reason why it is silent. It's a way for the owner to determine the market value and it will not get sold or sold to one of his friends for less than the highest bid.

Re: Help with value please.
Success!!! My offer bought the jeep. Title matches the data plate.
Will go see it this weekend and start photo documenting before anything is touched.
Got a trade in the works to trade the F head for a MB engine. Got to go determine condition of that.
Pretty excited! First MB.

If they were used on the flight line they would be painted yellow.

Did they use yellow jeeps on aircraft carriers ? I was led to believe so, but correct me if i am wrong.
