Here are two super high resolution photos of Ford engines in the assy line and the Ford GPW engine bay found on THF.

Thanks Yves,
Great info. I see that on the grill, split rivits are being used on the bonding straps for the hood, I thought that they were attached with screws.

Yes, that has been mentioned here at least once, the apparent disrepancy between the drawing and what's been commonly found.

Hi Jeff,
I don't think that I have ever seen that, just the bond strap attached with screws. Is there anything in the new GPWJS? Haven't got it yet.

The SNL refers to the split rivets as mentioned on the drawing. I have used them for my ‘43 GPW restoration.

I haven't looked for it yet in the judging standard as I'm not that far in the restoration yet, but the last two I worked on had the screws and nuts and just re-used them.

Re: GPW drawings from the henryford.org Edited with listing
During the war they had likely to replace the brass rivets due to material restrictions.
These parts were no longer present in my jeep, so I have just ordered a kit with the split rivets.
I'm sure the screw and bolt is a better solution to make a good contact with a bonding strap.
Yves.

In fact, the answer is given on the giant 1943 GPW engine bay photo that I've posted here above !
They were using screws.
It seems to be an error on the brush guard drawing, B-B section
Something to fix in my GPW

I am looking for the drawing of the FORD front cross member. I can find the Rear cross member, the Intermediate cross member, and the Center cross member, but nothing on the front cross member. what am I missing? SNL shows the part as GPW-5019

Hello
The front crossmember drawing has not (yet) been published.
You could likely buy it from TheHenryFord.

An interesting original GPW drawing found on the THF website.
It shows the Ford GPW Exhaust System Installation and is dated from May 27, 1943.
Part numbers are shown.
Merged, restored and enhanced drawing:

Drawing : GPW-7210 LEVER TRANS GEAR SHIFTER
Another very interesting drawing for those having issues with the shifter or having to reshape the shifter tip.
