Toeque Reaction Spring Shackles

Post by GPW1944MikeP » Sun Mar 12, 2017 12:49 am

HI guys, just need a little feedback on a problem, when i went to fit the shackles or dog bones, as they are sometimes known, onto the torque reaction spring with the long / medium bolts, I assume the shackles are meant to swivel as the outer one is bushed and the bolt is shouldered however when i fit the inner bush and tighten it up it locks between the frame bracket and the nut . Is this right ? as it seems strange that the outer bush should pivot but the inner one doesnt. If it should then what should stop the nut nipping the dog bone - ,or has the new bolt been threaded

Couple of photos for reference

Hia. I was just wondering what conclusion you came to as I am wondering the same thing.

Mike, I can't see your photos, but are you using castillated nuts on these pins and are your pins drilled for cotters? You should be able to set the nut to a point where it will not bind on the dogbone and then install a cotter pin to keep it there.
