numbers identification

Post by trifido » Sat Feb 28, 2015 5:10 am

Hello from Italy, I just joined the forum and first of all sorry for my English. I just purchased a Willys to be restored, on the hood under the paint can be glimpsed numbers: 20150122-S I would be grateful if someone knows how to give the information. The car was used as an agricultural vehicle near Florence after the war.
greetings Marino

Hi Mario and welcome to the G,

That hood number is correct for a Ford GPW (I would say around september 42). Now you should know if that hood is the original of your jeep. Have you studied the basic differences between Willys and Fords?

Hood number 20150122 was originally used on a GPW assembled at the Louisville, Ky assembly plant. A most likely DoD should have been about 8 Sept. '42.

Thanks for the info. As for the differences between a GPW and Willys know them, it's probably the hood has been replaced if during the war or after I do not know; the certificate of ownership is dated 1949.
thanks again

Hello Trifido.

What is your chassis number?

My chassis number is GPW 64.045, and his hood number would start with 2015 too.

Did you find out anything else about your jeep?

Look at this: viewtopic.php?f=85&t=327994&p=1908199#p1908199 is the GPW Hood Number 20154033 in some Air Base in ITALY, April 1945.

Ciao Trifido.

Hello dpcd67.

I don`t have other way to communicate with the author of this post.

I am interested in the information even if the thread was from 1942.

Trifido last time active in this G503 Forum was at Sat Nov 26, 2022 1:50 pm.

I hope he can answer me and help in my research.

Sorry my english is not my everyday language.

Best regards Dpcd67.

(Trifido if you are reading this, i am waiting your answer. Thanks)
