Eric,

Thank you for your input, but I want to clarify: If you only need to replace the front gussets or do minor
frame repairs, then yes, bolt and nut / mullins imitation rivets are fine. But a complete frame rebuild
using this method, is in my professional opinion, as an Aircraft Engineer, not smart.

The comparison to the strength of a hot rivet vs a bolt and nut, is simply not the same.

No, the blind rivets are also 3/8 inch for the front- rear spring hangers.

I have now riveted together 5 GPW frames using our tools / method.

I am also one that will need to do some frame rivets on my restoration GPW. For example the front bumper gussets. What is the best way to rivet these without having access to a whole fully stocked work shop, but just my own garage? Thanks

I have both rivet tools, Huck and hot rivet. If you’re in the Houston area I could help you out. Made a hot rivet die that reproduces the pointed Ford rivets perfectly.

Hello all,

12 years since started this thread. I now live in Holland and am doing riveting work here. Just riveted
WWII jeep frame nr 15 :) And that was a Ford GP.

Do you still have rivet equipment?
