Is this really the 555th MB motor made?

Hi hi,

Yes it is :) Still has early manifold. Is this yours? MB engines have a date stamp on the oil pan
flange at the rear. If yours, recommend you pull the pan and check the date.

Casting date is November 5 (1941??)

cast on a 'screwed on' boss under / near starter

The Engine is in a local GPW that is starting the rebuild process. Being as early as it is I had figured that there would be some interest in the motor. If a deal or a swap for a correct vintage ford motor is not found the engine will be used in this GPW. It ran when bought last year. The motor had been rebuilt by the previous owner when they started their restoration. The previous owner tired of the project and it was bought by the current owner.

Robert...what is the serial number/DOD of the August '42 GPW you need a block for? Email me with that info I might have a lead on a swap for it!
