Drivers Inner Fender Photo needed

Post by Yinger » Thu Aug 18, 2005 6:33 am

My drivers side fender looks like swiss cheese on the the inside due to misc. holes being added over years of abuse. Does any one have a good picture that shows which holes should be there and which ones do not belong?

Thank you in advance!

Sorry, no picture!

But if I counted correctly, there should be max. 26 holes!!! (not counting the two air vents (2) and lamp swivel bracket (1) !!!!!!!)

Top panel:

- two for hold down clamp of hood
- three for BOD light bracket (late only)
- one for BOD wiring clamp (late only)
- one for BOD wiring (late only)

that is 7

Inner forward panel

- three for fender mounting to grill
- one for wiring clip for BO lamps
- two for terminal for wiring for lamps
- one at the bottom for fixing fender to frame
- one for ground strap of braided, shielded wiring going to front
- one for BOD light wiring guided through hat channel
- one for wiring clip

that is 10

hat channel

- two, for fixing to fender

Side panel, rear

- two for fixing to frame, at the very bottom

rear panel

- three for fixing to body
- one, or two (MB / GPW) for fixing to body/step

...were there two or three more for the early MB air deflectors??? Or were these only carried over to the passenger side panels????

Garret,

That would be great if you could post the right fender also. Between Jon's drawings and these pictures that is exactly what I need.

Please excuse the appearance of the fender. I haven't worked on it for a while and it's collected dust from sitting in my shop.

Hello,

This is great info for locating correct fender holes, when working on fenders with many extra holes .

Remember, those are Willys fenders. GPW's have two "fender to step" holes.
