MVCC Plymouth event

Post by Kurt Lesser » Tue Feb 01, 2022 4:55 pm

Just a reminder that everyone wishing to either RV or camp at the Plymouth show needs to have a registration form submitted and payment made by March 24th. Fairgrounds campers should mail their payment to the MVCC C/O JoAnn Lesser and people staying in the RV Park should contact them directly and make their payments. Registration forms can be downloaded from the MVCC website at: www.MVCCNEWS.NET . The return address for JoAnn is on the form.

Amador Fairgrounds campers should send their payments to JoAnn along with their camping fees payment in full.

49er RV Resort folks please send your REGISTRATIOIN form to JoAnn and contact the park directly to make your payment. The MVCC cannot forward your payment to them.

Thanks!

Thank god you relocated away from the Bay Area but wish you found someplace in the Central Valley, I miss the Lodi meets. I never went to the Petaluma shows as rooms were way costly, 10.00 charge to enter daily, no fly in & no firing blank weapons.
Did the last three change?

Plymouth was great and all, but I don’t think anything can replace Tower Park out of Lodi.
That place is awesome. Tanks, Jeeps and a Huey.

Yeah that was a central location and a great layout for a swap meet. If their ownership changes or they ease their restrictions on groups there is little chance of us going back for the big April meet due to too many cabins and many sites combined to make big, long ones in Campground 4. I have not seen Campground 2-3, the area by the levee, in many years. That was a great spot for our last Fall meets. Perfect size. But again, the big problem is the corporation apparently doesn't like groups.

The Plymouth venue checks most of our boxes. Personally I'd like to see a different venue for the Fall meets. More variety.

With fuel prices, Plymouth is a long haul from San Diego these days.

For the record, comparing the time and distance from Lodi on the Hwy 99 side to Plymouth with time and distance from Lodi on the I-5 side to Tower Park, Plymouth is 26 miles farther which is about 31 minutes in a pickup. Not a big difference as a percentage of a trip from SoCal but it is something.

From the north, say Sacramento Airport, Plymouth is two more miles and 14 minutes longer.

From the east Plymouth is closer. From the Bay Area it's farther.

This info is for folks who have been to Tower Park but not Plymouth. Again, Tower is not in our future for the big April meet unless the planets align in a certain way. This is a good time to mention the several better things about the Plymouth venue are the nice and scenic road driving options for MVs, the food and lodging options, and it's a nice place to be with a spouse or significant other.

Tower Park in Lodi was exactly 100 miles for us from San Jose. Plymouth is 130. The biggest difference is the uphill climb after you pass thru Ione.

Our paperwork for the September event is complete so it's time to get those reservations underway. We have about a month and a half so let's get rolling!

As of right now we are pitifully short of registrations for campers over in the fairgounds to the point where we don't even cover the cost of the porta-pottis so if you plan on coming get your registration in to JoAnn NOW!
