California Plymouth meet update

Post by Kurt Lesser » Sun Jan 03, 2021 8:10 am

Addendum 1/3/21: While we are anticipating the event will happen at this point we are asking everyone wishing to attend to fill in an application and sent it in. The address is on the application. We think it would be better to hold of on any payments until the March'21 time frame when we will have a better idea whether or not the event will happen. This way there isn't money out there that would need to be refunded should the state cancell it.

The latest confirmed dates for the April 2021 Plymouth meet are April 28th (Wed) thru May 1st (Sat). All reservations will again be done thru JoAnn Lesser and an application sheet will be published in an upcoming Newsletter.

If you had a reservation for the April 2020 meet your name will automatically be transferred to the 2021 schedule. We've received our new 49er site allocations and they've tried to do a better job of grouping MVCC members together. If for some reason the space you were assigned in 2020 isn't on the new allocation list JoAnn will do her best to make sure you will be relocated to an equivalent sized site. Beginning in January we'll be contacting you with your site number and at that time you can contact the 49er to make your payment. We'll also notify the 49er of any site changes we make so they'll be expecting your call, please don't call the resort and ask them to move you.

A change for this year for the 49er Resort is the MVCC will only be doing the reservations and not collecting any money for them. That will be done by the 49er folks. All sites in the Fairgrounds will remain the same and the MVCC will still be collecting all payments for the Fairgrounds sites.

Any additional information will be in the MVCCNews as it becomes available.

California Plymouth meet update Please Read

Post by Kurt Lesser » Tue Feb 16, 2021 9:13 am

February 16, 2021 addendum:

We are progressing with our plans for the upcoming MVCC meet in Plymouth at this point and there are a few things that need clarification. The way payments are set up right now the 49ER RV Resort is collecting all payment for those people staying in the RV park. This is a change from 2019. We are asking everyone to send an application to the MVCC so that we can keep an accurate count of everyone attending and if you contacted the 49er Resort directly to make a reservation we ask you to please make sure to send an application to the MVCC for our records.

Those people that would like reservations in the associated Amador County Fairgrounds all need to send their application and payment for camping directly to JoAnn at the address on the application.

We use the information from the applications to create an accurate listing, both alphabetically and by site number of all those in attendance to make it easier for you to locate people. We also use this so that you can get the same sites you were previously in should there ever be a repeat of what happened in 2019.

Here is the latest flyer. Note the addition of four awards:
Longest Distance Travelled
Longest Distance Travelled Driving a MV
Longest Distance Travelled Transporting a MV
Hard Luck Award (getting ready or travelling to the meet, or if no candidates, hard luck at the meet. Missing out on an early GPW grill for $50 is not what we are talking about)

Self register, we are not mind readers! Look for the clipboards at the MVCC/Event Info Booth near the RV Village entrance, and at the fairgrounds.
We will recognize more than the winner of each category, so please sign up!

Reservations for the upcoming MVCC Plymouth meet are closed for the 49er Resort and we have returned any unused sites to them. If you want to attend and stay in the 49er you will need to contact then directly at (209)-245-6981 and make arrangements. You may or may not get the MVCC discounted rate for your stay at this time.

Reservations for the Amador Fairgrounds dry camp sites are still open for the next 6 days, until April 20th to give us time to get ready for the event. There are still plenty of dry camping sites available although it has filled up considerably in the last 2 weeks. An application is still required so that we can track our attendees and payment of $35 per night should be included with it. Please make out any checks to the MVCC and mail it to the address on the form before the 20th of the month. Applications are downloadable from the MVCC website at: www.mvccnews.net/events

We look forward to seeing every one of you after the yearly Covid hiatus!

Thanks Kurt. Reminder to all that the food trucks will be in the fairgrounds campground this year.

Asking the 49er staff for an RV site discount can't hurt but don't expect it. In case you haven't looked into this yet, you should know that our deal ended up at $53, not $65 which appears on our reservation form. But if you have to book at the current published rate, that is as low as $64 depending on which dates. Not bad! Today I saw quite a few sites on their reservation web page available for weeknights and some for the whole week. You can choose which one you want on their map. Check them out: https://www.sunrvresorts.com/resorts/we ... r-village/

Probably they are light on "civilian" RV campers due to the nearby wineries not doing indoor tasting or events yet. Winery tourism is a big reason why people visit Amador County and camp at 49er. If this means more RV sites and hotel rooms are available to our folks, great!

Re: California Plymouth meet update and RV RENTING

Post by John Neuenburg » Wed Apr 14, 2021 2:02 pm

Have you ever thought about renting a travel trailer or RV for staying in the RV Village? My wife and I gave up the cabin we had last time to try a travel trailer. It will be delivered and picked up by a company in Sacramento. I can tell you who we are using or just do a web search for RV rental in Sacramento, Lodi, or Stockton and you'll see options including websites that are brokers for many private owners in the area. Some deliver for a fee.

Commuting from home or hotel is fine but staying on site is nice. If dry camping at the fairgrounds is not your thing and you don't own a RV or travel trailer, consider this option.

I think that I should try that. :)

Excellent event! Lots of MVs, amateur and some pro vendors, visitors. At the MVCC membership meeting Saturday, president Chris Thomas announced it was the largest of our annual Spring meets ever. Nearly 200 MVs including trailers and over 200 campsites and cabins rented. No accounting of those who booked a RV Village site directly with their office outside of our group discount block, like after our block sold out. So our overnighting number of people might have been larger than that. There were many commuting from home and hotels. Some peoples' expectations this would be a light turnout were thoroughly disproved. Everybody I talked with were very happy except about the closed path between the two campgrounds due to a RV Village solar panel construction project. Let's hope that short route is re-opened. If not, having a MV to run back and forth with will save some walking.

Some predict the September version of Camp Plymouth will be bigger than in 2019 due to those staying home from the April one being more stir-crazy for a swap meet than ever! The Fall meet is usually half the size of the Spring meet. Can we grow it? Dates for that are September 8-12, 2021.

The 2022 Spring event will again be at the end of April.

What do YOU think of this event? Let's see your pictures!

More event chatter is expected on the MVCC forum.

I had a great time and there were deals a'plenty! I had to stop buying as there wasnt any more room in the truck. Actually had to have a friend haul some of it home.

As a follow-up to my suggestion about renting an RV or travel trailer for staying at 49er RV Village, it worked out nicely for us. Advantage Caravans from Sacramento delivered the trailer Tuesday afternoon, levelled and hooked it up, and picked it up Sunday morning by the checkout deadline. Low round trip delivery fee. All this and the site rental was less than $200 a night. We were not charged a separate insurance fee which the broker websites charge along with their service fee. But if you want to see a wide variety of privately owned units for rent near you or your destination, check out www.RVShare.com or www.Outdoorsy.com.

We liked this better than the studio cabin we used in 2019. There were no 1 or 2 bedroom cabins available - 49er doesn't have enough. We liked being able to camp where we wanted to. Check out www.advantagervrentals.com for the September 2021 or April 2022 swap meet shows in Plymouth.

Thanks John...I camped this last event but seriously considering the RV option since I spent most of my time with buds in the RV side...
