Here is a link to a map of currently planned restricted zone in Normandy for 6 June. It follows the plan used in 2014. It extends all along the N13 from Caen to Isigny-sur-Mer. It includes all the British and Canadian sectors as well as Omaha Beach, the American Cemetery, and Point-Du-Hoc. Plan your day accordingly. The plan is supposed to be finalized on 16 May.

Does restricted mean (the red line) roads are closed, but you can park near by and walk around those areas?

We did that on 6/6/2014, and also visited the Vimoutiers Tiger that day. With 250 km one of the longer single day trips we did in our jeep.

It is probably best to wait for the latest guidance that is supposed to be released on 16 May. It is my current understanding that the N13 will in fact be closed for whatever period they announce between Caen and Isigny-sur-Mer. You won’t be able to access points within the security zone unless you are a resident who is living there. In 2014 there were people who were staying at locations within the security zone. They left to go buy groceries and were not allowed to reenter. It is important to note that these restrictions are are do to dignitaries and VIPs that are participating in multiple ceremonies. Therefore, the length of time that the restrictions will be in existence will likely coincide with the ceremonies and the time before and after when the diginitaries will be traveling. Unfortunately, that information does not yet appear available. The primary intentions of my post was to make people aware that there will be travel restrictions in existence that will be affecting freedom of movement so that they can plan accordingly.

Which event will the most military vehicles be at on the 6th ? Also, would taking video/pictures with a small selfie drone be inappropriate?

Arromanches has an event scheduled for 6 June with 250 vehicles, but it is right in the middle of the restricted zone. I would recomend sticking with Carentan, Ste Mere Eglise, or St. Marie Du Mont which all have encampments with vehicles, and are out of the restricted zone.

Here is what I found for drone restrictions in France. I can’t say if there will be any additional restrictions imposed during the commemorations.

Thanks for your patience with questions... I started plotting, where we are staying versus what we want to see.
We are staying in Houlgate, about 30m North from Caen
I was thinking that we can see the further spots of N13 on June 5th US cemetery, Saint Mere Eglise, etc.
On June 6th we would love to see the Arromanches 250 vehicles event.

Do you have any information on this?

The only information regarding the event in Arromanches is on page 7 of the official event program ( http://bayeux-bessin-tourisme.com/wp-co ... 2019-1.pdf ). But, I don’t know how you are supposed to get to it, since it is right in the middle of the restricted zone on 6 June. Sorry, I don’t have any further information other than what has been published. My only suggestion would be to contact the tourism bureau directly by email for the latest information.

Flying a drone around the White House or the French Ministries or Whitehall or Buckingham Palace is not allowed so whatever the General Aviation rules are in France, on the 6th when the VVVIPS are at the ceremony you probably won't be allowed to fly yours.

Not only are the roads "Restricted" but airspace above the ceremonies is restricted as well. Some dignitaries will arrive by car and others by helicopter so essentially, that area has the same restrictions as any airport in the world does....no drones.

Loooooooong before drones were a threat, participating in the 1984 ceremonies in evidence were the following:
US war planes about 2 miles off shore circling, for an immediate response (Regan was the US VIP then)
Onshore were batteries of AA artillery of the French armed forces poised for any air activity
US and British notables were expected to arrive via helicopter then.
I imagine it hasn't changed much since - only intensified.
