NYC veterans day parade 2018 success
Great day in NYC thanks for all the veterans that attended and the crowds that cheered them on thru the entire parade. Always a great event to attend and give back to the men and women that have served. Next year would love to see more military vehicles getting involved for the day with the veterans.

Kudos on making the effort to participate in the parade. Perhaps you may want to share some details regarding getting into and out of Manhattan before and after the parade as well as information regarding trailering of vehicles to the parade location. Is there any plan for staging outside of Manhattan for trailered vehicles to be dropped off and driven into Manhattan rather than trying to exit Manhattan with a trailered vehicle in city traffic? I think there would be more participation if we could make it practical. I attended the parade this year specifically to see the WWI living historians march for the WWI Armistice centennial. I knew one of the owners of a WWI vehicle who participated and he has said trying to get back downtown to his trailer after exiting the parade route was a nightmare. He said he would never do it again. Please share your thoughts on how we may improve participation. In the meantime here is a link to to a short video of the WWI contingent, they looked great: https://youtu.be/FUoRi6v379w

OK sounds good since I have done this parade over 10 times I have learned some hard learned lessons . Yes you can drive your truck and trailer into the city what I have found is if you park at end of parade or a block or two after the parade route it is very easy to access your truck and trailer after the event. I think I will get ahold of the event planners for next year and see if they would want to do a military vehicle show after show so after we leave the parade we all go to a certain location to park and let the public see the vehicles up close . This year before the parade I parked right at Madison park and let the veterans, public , police ect. take pictures on and around my vehicle they allll loved it and appreciated the chance. Your friend must have had one of the dodge 1914 vehicles they looked great and they probably parked at beginning of parade thats what I did the first year and yes it is hard to get back with all the street closures and extra traffic. Maybe the committee will consider all truck and trailers park down by the aircraft carrier area which would really help anyone with the trailer. We will have to check with them before hand. But the committee is great and they do such a good job on getting this parade moving and organized. Hope your friend reconsiders for next year. Take care

Re: NYC veterans day parade 2018 success
I would think having parking available for trucks with trailers at the Intrepid would be a great idea since it should be a straight shot off 46th Street at the end of the parade route. Having a static display area for the vehicles at the Intrepid after the parade is also a great idea. I think most military vehicles owners are intimidated by the city traffic and parking when moving trucks with trailers to transport their military vehicle. If the parade committee is willing to address their concerns it would probably go a long way towards encouraging more military vehicle owners to participate. Another option might be a parking/staging area outside of Manhattan near bridge or tunnel access into Manhattan where trucks with trailers could be parked and the military vehicles driven into Manhattan. I think if the parade committee would be willing to address the traffic and parking concerns and promotes some viable options, military vehicle owners would likely respond with more participation.
