When will the location be announced for the 2020 MVPA convention?

This was discussed at the general membership meeting in Louisville, Ky. 2018. So I can pass along the current information. The MVPA board and our event director John Cheney II work year round to plan the annual show. We had been planning to have our 2020 show in South Bend, IN. Home of AM General. At their request that show has been pushed back to 2021 to coincide with AM General's 50th Anniversary Celebration and this also works well with the planned MVPA transcontinental convoys visit to South Bend. So that worked out nice but resulted in a unusual chronological gap. The MVPA has several options for 2020 and are working to finalize the best option. Typically sites are chosen at the fall board meeting and this is the current plan.

Thanks for the heads up. I’m planning on attending with my GPW but I’d be cutting it close for 2019. Not to mention it would be a long haul to the east coast. I’m hoping for a 2020 convention on the west half of the US. I’ll keep an eye out this fall.

Will there ever be a future MVPA convention in Colorado, Oklahoma, or Arkansas?

The site depends on many items.
First there has to be a Host group. In the past this has typically been a MVPA affiliate(s). The board has recently been looking for other hosts in an effort to get shows in more profitable markets, locations we have not been, or near attractions we feel the membership may find interesting.
Kansas has held at least 4 over the 40+ years, Texas a couple, Arkansas 1.

Hi, Thank you Kevin. It would be nice to see a future convention in the Colorado Springs, Colorado area given it's connection to military history.

oo bad it's 105 miles from York to Chester. It would be nice to take my GPW "home".
Fellow GA MVPA members always ask me when the convention will come o Atlanta. I ask them if they would volunteer to help. That usually ends the discussion. It takes a lot of volunteers to host one of these things and I think the Kilroy chapter did an outstanding job this year.

I'm surprised the groups in FL can't put something together in the Orlando area. Or TX?

I brought up 2020 to the First Florida Chapter President but we would have to do a lot of planning and the hardest part is finding a good venue in Florida to use. Maybe we can compete for 2022. Who knows.

MVPA news bulletin indicates there are two locations under consideration for the annual in 2020. Does anyone know what the locations are?

We almost had this nailed down. Then construction delays in Texas caused that to be tabled. We are now looking at Ohio, Mass., and Iowa. The directors are focused on this getting nailed down and are hoping to complete the process in the next couple months. 2019 York and 2021 South Bend are coming along well.
