Biggest Annual Western U.S. MV Gathering & Swap Meet Plymouth, CA April 14-19, 2020

Post by John Neuenburg » Tue Nov 19, 2019 9:31 pm

The 43rd annual military vehicle swap meet and gathering in North-Central California is making it's second Spring appearance in Plymouth April 14-19, 2020. This is the largest annual MV event west the Mississippi, formerly located at campgrounds in Petaluma, Tower Park, Big Bear Park, and near Patterson, CA. Those who came to the new venue in the historic California Gold Rush country and winery region in April 2019 found it solved past issues with having enough campsites, visitor parking, admission fee, and display space. Attendance was the most ever!

The event is again hosted by the Military Vehicle Collectors of California. It will be at the 49er RV Village for RVs, travel trailers, tent trailers and other camping rigs, and those renting cabins, PLUS the adjacent Amador County Fairgrounds for all tent and truck campers, MV showcases, other displays, and visitor parking. The swap meet will be throughout the event. There is a path and open gate between the two venues.
  • Free admission
  • Free visitor parking
  • Display area for those commuting from home or hotel in MVs
  • No vendor fee. Pro and amateur sellers must be in a rented campsite or cabin
  • No MV registration fee
  • Not a static MV show, they may be driven in and out and throughout both venues
  • Tracked vehicles with steel grousers on the dirt and grass areas of the fairgrounds only, including the showcase arena.
THREE PLANNED SHOWCASES: ARMOR, TRUCKS 2 1/2 TON AND LARGER, AND HMMWVs

Plenty of activities and features:
  • MV Driving Excursion
  • Dinners
  • Ladies' Activities
  • Meetings
  • 49er amenities include pool, hot tub, laundry, café, store, rec hall, kid's play area, fishing
  • Hotels, restaurants, stores, many wineries, historic Gold Country sites, and antique stores abound in the quaint, historic towns
  • Raffle Friday evening to include the new GPW jeep Maxi-Kit with Frame that was given to the MVCC by April 2019 sponsor MD Juan but arrived too late to be raffled then. There will be a maximum number of raffle tickets sold, check back here for details.
We are seeking donated raffle items for this annual fundraiser. Vendors stand up and be recognized!

Campsite reservation details are being worked out. DO NOT CONTACT the 49er OFFICE. We will let you know here when event details are on www.MVCCNews.net and in the club newsletter. If you had a campsite or cabin at the April 2019 event, Wagonmistress Jo-Ann has your name on it for April 2020. September Camp Plymouth reservations have nothing to do with the Spring event.

I’m the POC for the big truck showcase. It will be Thursday. This is our opportunity to get as many 2 1/2 and larger trucks all together for an impressive display. We’ll even have a People’s Choice award. Get your rigs ready now so no excuses!

Info about the raffle of the MD JUAN jeep Maxi-Kit that was postponed from the April 2019 Camp Plymouth is over on the jeeps for sale forum here:

viewtopic.php?f=5&t=312247&p=1816329#p1816329

It got out of the Port of Oakland too late to make the meet but rest assured it sits in MVCC control 30 miles from Plymouth and the plan is to display it at the 2020 meet during the week, sell tickets, and a new owner will win it Friday evening!

There will be plenty of open back seats. Should not be a problem.

Hi Greg. I have heard about that operation and have been wondering if one of them would want to do a flyby at our meet. To schedule a MV excursion over there, run it by Activities Coordinator Nancy Porter and copy Chris Thomas so as to avoid conflicts. Best to take the sausage-making offline from this forum until announcements can be made.

Yesterday I learned that rules for the MD Juan GPW Maxi-Kit with Frame will come out in the February MVCC News newsletter arriving soon. This raffle is planned for 6 pm Friday, before the annual fundraiser raffle. Separate $5.00 tickets, maximum of 2,000 printed. You must be a MVCC member to participate in the kit raffle. The Secretary will accept ticket requests and payments starting when the newsletter hits the mailboxes. I think this will be in the second week of February.

If you are not a current member, all are welcome! Download the application from www.MVCCNews.net and mail it in. Yes, old school. Regular membership is $40 per year which includes 12 print newsletters of around 20 pages and rights to run free classified for sale/wanted ads. The E-membership is only $30 per year and you get the newsletter electronically (color photos) via your ultra super top secret password to the Member Only page on the website. There is a three-year discount deal and a business membership that includes a business card-sized ad in 12 newsletters that reach hundreds of members. The $5 Associate membership is for spouses and children under 18.
