I am leading a run to this incredible gem in Sutter Creek. In constant operation from 1873 until 1996, the last water-powered foundry and machine shop in America.

The rules for the MD Juan jeep Maxi-Kit raffle on Friday evening are on www.MVCCNews.net, find the event page via the calendar. One change is there is no preselling of tickets. Someone asked me if the winner of the kit can turn around and sell it right away that night or on Saturday. Of course! Keep in mind the agreement with MD Juan is the kit is supposed to stay at its display spot through Saturday late afternoon.

For those who want to build a reproduction early 1942 GPW jeep, making the new owner an offer that evening might work, saving the freight cost from a MD Juan dealer. Bring a trailer with some space! Crate can be transported on its side. Then shop on Saturday for the engine, driveline, axles, instruments, and wiring harness.

There is an illustration of the kit components plus a lot of new photos now up on the jeeps for sale forum. Also some important details. Here is the link, go up to the original post:

Some have asked for more info about exactly what the jeep Maxi-Kit is, and how the MD Juan sponsorship of Camp Plymouth came about. showcase.

This kit is payment to the MVCC by MD Juan for marketing services this year. They and our truck showcase sponsor Hagerty Insurance want exposure to MVers and want to give something back to MV hobbyists. The MVCC, as promoter of a big show, is in a position to advertise brand names and products many ways plus run ads in our 500 monthly print newsletters. In the past the club has received small sponsorships from a number of companies to fund cash prizes at most of the People's Choice Contests at the themed MV showcases. Thank Hagerty, Ron Fitzpatrick Jeep Parts, Surplus City Jeep Parts, Marin-Sonoma Concours d'Elegance, Midwest Military, ArmyTrucks, Inc., and Expedition Imports for their past support.

This year we decided for the inaugural Plymouth venue to go after an overall event sponsor to include name-in-title rights. The extremely non-profit MVCC spends money on these events for the benefit of all MV hobbyists and vendors, and our newsletter cost has gone up. The Board wants to avoid a dues increase, so a bigger sponsorship package was put together. When I heard that MD Juan president Rommel Juan and plant and sales manager Ramon Mendoza were going to stop in San Francisco after the SEMA show in Las Vegas, to let Ramon see the city for the first time, I called Rommel to see if he would be interested in a proposal. He said yes and we met for lunch two days later! He said they were interested to advertise recent improvements in their jeep parts. The negotiation evolved from cash, to cash and parts for our annual fundraiser raffle, to all trade, upscaling it to a loaded, early GPW Maxi-Kit. These are advertised by US dealers at $7,000 to $8,000. So this kit was shipped to the US at no cost to us, imported by a MD Juan dealer for drop shipping to the MVCC (we cannot be an importer). The plan is to display it through Saturday afternoon with MD Juan marketing materials. At the MVCC booth, raffle tickets will be sold for $5.00 each. No limit. 2,000 maximum will be sold. The proceeds will be MD Juan's sponsorship payment to the MVCC. Win-win-win.

For the curious, this is part number MMK019 which is a Maxi-Kit representing an early 1942 GPW. Sometimes the term Master Kit is used. This is the loaded kit that includes frame and springs. It has an optional OD paint job rather than the standard primer red. It is not their "Kit in a Crate," which has a different part number, which are the same parts inside an all plywood crate that looks much like how jeeps were shipped in WWII. Our crate is the new style with a steel framework over plywood.

Their website is www.mdjuan.com.ph/ Check out their videos on the home page. In the Gallery section lives this very nice video about the Kit in a Crate including some WWII images. https://youtu.be/CVYXaV7NZTY

The MVCC would like to give a special shout-out to Jay Hinton from Jay's WWII Jeeps for being a sponsor of the commemorative Camp Plymouth T-shirts. We have had some very high quality artwork professionally created in the past few years for these shirts, driven by MVCC Central Valley VP Don Gomes and his relationship with Stith Printing. Real "car show" quality art. But this comes at a cost. Jay, who will be a vendor in RV space 185 just past the office, donated money to help make this happen. The club might not have enough shirts for the demand, so if G503.com readers want to buy the official shirt at the inaugural Plymouth venue, stop by the MVCC Quartermaster on Thursday just past the office.

If you went to the 2016 MVPA Convention in Pleasanton you might have picked up the shopping bag sponsored by Jay. My wife and I will be bringing ours to Plymouth!

Unfortunately the jeep kit was hung up in customs in Oakland and sent back to MD Juan for reasons we do not know. There will be no jeep kit raffle.

There will, however, be the annual MVCC fundraising raffle Friday evening during and after the dinner at the Clubhouse. We welcome donations of items for men, women, and children. Bring them to the event headquarters and quartermaster booth just past the 49er RV Village office.
