My 1944 CONCO cam lock was painted red over the green and has a few minor dents.

Does any one know if there was any other manufacturer than CONCO for U.S. M.C. cam spouted jerrycans? So far I have never heard other than that one,and never seen one in the flesh, yet, only pictures..

U.S.M.C. cans in and of themselves are somewhat rare. Among U.S.M.C. cans Conco seems to be the most common. Does this make any sense? :D

Must be my english! Are there or not OTHER known manufacturers of USMC jerrycans? If Conco is the only, then CONCO is not the rarest.nor the commonest:is the only! Or are you playing with words to make it difficult for us non english speaking guys? :)

Did I say that?I meant that I never heard other manufacturer than Conco for USMC cans, and even of this make I have only seen pictures, but never "touched" a Conco one, forget other manufacturers... Hopefully I will get soon a couple from U.S.A,which I will split with my friend Silvano Borgogno, the one who has 300 + cans, but not one USMC yet!

I have 4 USMC cans. All are CONCO made. 1942, 1943, and two 1944's. The 1942 can's markings are in raised letters on the bottom of the can. All of the others are stamped in.

Robin, that is interesting:I wonder if anyone has ever seen or owns a 45 CONCO USMC can,so at least we know for sure that they manufactured such cans in ALL years from 42 to the end of war.
As far as Conco being the sole manufacturer of jerrycans for the USMC, Robin's cans would add to this, together with the two 44 that John Burton has, plus the about five that Frank USMC posted about....Of course the never say never rule applies. 8)

I have about 20 of these cans. they are all in a dark OD and have yellow stenciling, but I've never found any year marking on them. I've looked high and low but to no avail. Any suggestions?

The cans have no other stamped markings other than the CONCO on the bottom and WATER stamped into the handle of the cam lock.
Now under the yellow stenciled WATER on some of them is a yellow stenciled 42 C179.
In other post somebody said he thought they were Viet Nam era. But these cans came from old Civil Defense supplies that were being tossed out and the old timers who worked here said they had been there as long as they could remember and some of them started working here in the 50's.
