I picked up a WW2 manufacture US jerry can - Cavalier 43
It is painted the classic 34087 OD WW2 color.
Is this the correct color?
Or are they that dark green I have seen all my military career?
THANKS!

Re: color of US WW2 jerry cans
All the ones I have seen were some shade of 33070; flat OD. Of course many were painted 24087 post 56, and the M38 color which I now forget, like 23070 we have now. But also, fading and motor pool painting changed everything. And the USMC ones were often forest green with yellow letters. USMC meaning the ones used by the Marines, not the ones made by US Metal Company.
Dark green Is probably post war. And don't forget Bubba used them all too. Private Bubba and Joe Bubba. Need a vehicle for a parade? Slap some house paint on the gas can to make it look pretty. Seen it. One of my crews painted an entire M60A1 tank (3 color camo era) with house paint once for a display for some function I now forget. Looked very shiny.

Most I have seen have been semi gloss or egg shell, very few flat OD
