Jerry can 'bundles', how was it done?

Post by kw573 » Wed Oct 28, 2020 1:36 pm

Hi all,
As a side interest, I have been collecting jerry cans for a while, anything but the most recent flimsy cheap asian rubbish.
I seem to be able to return most cans to usable, if not pretty, condition.

I recall seeing, somewhere, WW2 pictures of sets of 4 (or more?) jerry cans in a frame designed to be moved by machinery, say, fork or crane. I'd like to repro some of these to help manage the many jerry cans I have.

Can anyone put their finger on pictures or information?

Just for fun, I'd like to fill the back of a CCKW with jerry cans. I've calculated 250 would be needed. Again, period pictures would be welcomed.
My wandering mind wondered what would it be if all those cans were full of fuel!!
That would be 7500 litres = AU$9000 (a.t.m.) and weigh 4500kgs! Hmmm . . . . .

Have a nice day.
