Replacement water can gaskets? Does anyone sell those?
You can never have to many firearms or military vehicles

I'm also looking for this information,or what have folks used as replacements in restoring the seal on a water can?

Might try a large mouth MB/GPW or an M series gas cap gasket. Looks like it may be a close fit.

Read where a gasket for the kitchen sink drain fits nice. Said to use rubber cement to install it.

Were the water cans fairly water tight when they were new?

I have tried to carry water, in two of my WW II era water cans. I firmly closed the camlock lid on a full can. I securely strapped it into the water can holder on the back of the jeep. After a mile or two on a county highway, I found that the bumps in the road shook out about half the water. Past the camlock lid.

I would be interested in a gasket source, or a fix for this.

Interesting to see I'm not the one restoring a water can. Got it mostly to bare metal, McCord marked on the lid.

Mine is a decent 1944, even had the original unit markings. CO K, 138th INF.

I think they might have been a Missouri Unit.

Oh yeah, and of course it has fuel in it at some point. Bleach helped tone the smell...
