Well the WW2 dated ones will have a broad following from reenactors as well as vehicle people. The later ones will appeal more to vehicle people. Let me know if you have a 1967 gas can. I have a 1967 M151A1 and it would be fun to match that up.

You might do a few overall shots of all the cans then either pictures of the markings on the bottom or transcribing all the markings on the bottom. Especially for the WW2 dated ones. There are certain manufacturers and years that collectors look for.

Just list them by date and maker. Water or gas. And condition. And price. Then you can post pictures as you can; 50 at once will be overwhelming for you and customers.

I have paid $15 to 40 for them and have seen asking prices for double that; post what you want for them. Look on that big auction site; there are always lots of them there; just looked and they are priced from 15 to 150. And they cost another $20 to ship which makes selling them by mail harder than at a show.
Yes you will need pictures at some point.

Early galvanized cans, war dated water cans and water cans with GOOD condition inner linings bring a premium over most other cans.

The liner appeared to be an enamel like paint that kept the can from rusting.

WWII gasoline cans had no interior coating other than a light oil when new, but WWII non-galvanized water cans did have a lining to prevent rust.

Later gasoline cans had a light tan interior coating.

1944 gasoline cans are somewhat scarce in the USA as production was halted, and then restarted to try to cover a shortage of gasoline cans in the European Theater of Operations due to the Allies rapid advance towards Germany.
1944 water cans seem to be fairly common in the USA.

A can will usually hold more value to an individual if it is dated near the year of manufacture of the vehicle they are putting it on.

1941 galvanized cans with a two lug lid usually command higher prices than later WWII era cans, with the Water can seemingly rarer than the Gasoline can.

Marine Corps cans with U.S.M.C. embossed in the side(not the bottom) are also more sought after.
A can with USMC embossed in the bottom of the can stands for U S Metal Container, the manufacturer of the can.

Cans with USN embossed into the side will also bring a premium price.

I don't remember with out looking, but in WWII the USA and Great Britain alone made something like 10's of millions.

Well actually I do not compete with Ron or anyone here to be completely honest here, and I have learned a lot on here from a lot of great people that do want to take the time to showing me here. Now, I am here to say these sites are here for learning and I know a lot of people have told me to get off this site and I have a lot of mean people say that I am not supposed to be here because this is not where I needed to be. But I learned over time that sometimes going against the grains or odds you can say is where you truly need to be here. Now in my life I am a giver and the people on this site that know me here I am one of the biggest givers on the planet here, and I know that I am not sitting on a gold mine here for I am willing to work with people to making them happy at the end of the day here. These parts I can not take with me when I die and I know this, but if I can help get the parts to the machines that the people own than I did my job here.

As you been noticing on here I have not been posting much on here because I do want to respect everyone here on the G here, and I am very thankful for the time and efforts that people have giving to me here. Now lastly I am going to say that I am dealing with a very bad pancreas at this time and I am taking the time I have to left to making that difference left here in this world. I am going to have a major surgery in May here and the point is that I do not want people to feel sorry for me here, but I am here to tell you that I am not giving up here on myself or the people around me here. I believe in the what I was taught when I was a child if you do good for others that you will be rewarded later in your life. And that is what I want to stick into believing here for it gives me hope in helping others here.

So in closing, these forums have saved my life in the sense of having people helping me in the ways that good people can do for you at the end of the day, and to me this is not about the money or the parts here it is about that brotherhood that I see here in everyone, and lastly I am not going to say that I am the smartest person in the world for I am not, and that is why I come here and when your a owner of over a couple of million parts here from World War II to the Vietnam War and presence here it is kind of hard to knowing over 150 different vehicles and what each part does for them. So take care and thanks again for all that have helped me in this journey that we call life. Many blessings to all here on the G!!
