Unusual Jerry can holder
Anyone have any information about this style Jerry can holder.
It has welded seams and what looks like a 1950’s style USGI web strap.
It’s built of heavy weight metal.

Re: Unusual Jerry can holder
There's a guy that shows up at the annual Aberdeen, MD show who has had one of these up for sale for the last 3 years. It is a tan color. There are absolutely no manufacturer or any other markings on it. It's very well made in heavy metal. A mystery for sure...

Sounds like the one I have, except mine is a dark green color.
Strap looks to be a field replacement due to the copper rivets.

Re: Unusual Jerry can holder
Saw a photo this weekend that leads me to believe that these holders may not be for jerry cans at all - they may be for decontamination units.

The only decontamination container I’ve seen is the one that looks like a fire extinguisher.

As an example, look up NSN 2540-01-280-8920, listed as "kit, portable, decontamination". Looks like a jerry can bracket to me.

Re: Unusual Jerry can holder
Per DodgeMan's suggestion, perhaps this holder is for something similar to the portable decontamination unit shown here: viewtopic.php?f=37&t=299738
