U.S. GAS JERRICANS WITH LETTERING ON TOP

Post by lucakiki » Tue Oct 21, 2003 6:44 am

Usually only water cans have the year and the manufacturer in relief on the top part, while on gas cans the lettering is indented in the bottom.
However some gas cans have year and make on top.I have seen this feature in 43 only,by Samco,Cavalier,NSI.Does any one know of other makes and years?

Hello Luca,
I see one 1943 by MONARCH with the lettering on the bottom.
Just a question : ISN or NSI 2 manufacturers or the same ?
I see a can 1943 ISN under the handles.
Samco, Cavalier, Monarch made water can with the lettering on the top
A bientôt,
Amicalement,
Philippe. :D

Hi,Philippe. It happened to me to mistake INS and NSI,but then Al Brass set me straight, as there are points that prove it= N.S.I. :)
Yes,Monarch as well made GAS cans with lettering on top,I think I had mentioned this on an old post predating this forum, and then forgot to mention it again.
Samco,Cavalier,Monarch made WATER cans with the lettering on top,but that is the usual way for Water cans.(See sticky list)
