gas cans out of the blue......

Post by Bob from BC » Sat Jul 19, 2003 10:16 am

You never know when something is going to fall into your lap! Yesterday, a gentleman stops buy and asks me if I would like a couple of old gas cans, as he had seen my jeep in town, and he was having a garage sail the next day.

I said sure and went on over. Bought 2 cans with straps and carriers, a metal spout and 5 cap gaskets. For 10 bucks!!!

Got home, started cleaning them up, labeled conco 1948 and conco 1950, carriers are heavy military type ( I have a new carrier, and I can't believe how much thinner the metal is!) I think the spout is more modern, as I don't know what an older one looks like!

I'm not a military guy and I get exited about this stuff!!!! :D

My engineer here at the firehouse asked if I wanted some cans for the jeep because his neighbor is like Fred Sanford and always picks stuff up.. Well I said, sure why not, and how much? $10 apiece. Ok, so the next shift for $20 I have 2 super cam lock cans dated '42 and '43 with QMC stamped in them not USMC!! Awsome cans!!
