Just an update about that old thread.
See here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j6auTCrQPRw
Under the video window, there is a comment with a link to a « how to » build the Lithium-Ion battery packs.
In French but there self explaining photos.

Re: convertor for prc 10
I build my own batteries for my pro-10.
I use 8 D-Cell and a pair of 67.5 volt batteries.
But what I notice is that if you look at the schematic of the pro-8, 9, 10, you will notice that the minute you plug the battery to the radio, the radio’s tubes are on all the time. Even with the power switch turned off.
So now, I use 6 D-Cells for the 1.5 volt and 4 C-Cells for the -6 volt. Works well for me.

I will have to double check if it works the same with the BA-511A.
I believe that this inverter is completely switched off by the PRC main switch

Yes, please do. Anyway, always remove your battery after you’re done with your radio for the day or operation.

Re: convertor for prc 10
I have just tested a PRC-10 powered by the BA-511A with my lithium-ion batteries and the power consumption is zero when switched OFF.
90mA when switched in Rx.
But as you wrote, it’s always a good precaution to remove the batteries when the radio is not used for a while.

That’s good to hear. Thanks for the update.
Got to look at the radio’s schematics again.
Think I missed something.

Ok, I see where I got the info wrong.
It is the Common or A- and C+ That gets switch. Not the A+.

Re: convertor for prc 10
Thanks for the feedback. After checking the schematic, I thought that the problem was with some relay contacts sticking.
Yes A- is switched.
