WTB: Base plate mount for AN/VRC-83V radio

Post by wild800 » Sat Oct 29, 2022 7:10 pm

<t>Hello all, I’m looking for the baseplate mount for the AN/VRC-83V radio set. This is the PRC-113 with the amplifier AM-7176A/VRC-83 set up. I am also looking for the 3 pin female connector power cord, CX-11173/U. I am also looking for the mobile/base antenna AS-3588 and RF cables ( coax) for it. There is a cable that goes from the radio remote connector to the J7 connector on the amplifier that I may need. The number I have is P/N 566083-809 or W4 on a diagram it is around 11 inches long. And information is appreciated!<br/>
Thanks</t>

Hello Mike
Hope to you see at Plymouth or Bay area hmmwv rides we organize (PM me if you are interested). As for the mount:
The mounts are hard to find. PRC-113 are interesting units and mine is shoe-ed with used mount that was rough but got it painted.

I see one on E$pay but you won't like the price, that is ridiculous... https://www.ebay.com/itm/192532805782 and I don' t know the seller thus only pointing it out.

As for the mount for the AS-3588 , for the CUCV use the scoop mount, nothing special about them but you need some beefy mount as the AS-3588 will torque on the mount due to its weight especially in rough terrains thus the light-weight mounts should be avoided. Use Ex: https://www.ebay.com/itm/182303844841
The antenna has two sets of connection, one the HN RF connector which is hard to find (expensive too). You might to make your own, get the connector and the right dia COAX.

As for the power cable if you can't find the cable make your own, stop by and I can make you a nice label to make it look Kosher. Get the connector https://www.ebay.com/itm/133482210237? I would use 12AWG wire, or 14AWG to be safe at the minimum.

Thanks John! I’m hoping to be there for the event. Sent my form and a check for fairground camping. Getting my M35 in mission ready condition. I’ll check out and respond to the others here also. Thanks again!

Z, thanks for the information and support I really appreciate it. I will be at Plymouth “God willing and the Creek don’t rise” I haven’t been to a meet since my Friend Randy Passed. I have a fair amount of catching up to do. Be well and stay safe.

Hello Mike, I recently picked up a ton ( actually more ) of radio gear, M series vehicle parts and other stuff. If you can make it to Livermore you are welcome to look over the things. I have very little knowledge of post war items so your expertise is desperately needed. Lee Edwards in Livermore

Scroungerm5:

I have noticed your post over the last several weeks regarding the cachet of surplus you would like to liquidate. I am not in the positions to get to the Plymouth swap meet. When you have an opportunity to catalog your inventory, I would be interested in some GRC106 items. Specifically, an
RT-662/GRC or RT-834/GRC. Yes, I have checked with a few suppliers but prefer to see what is available through the forum.

Thanks,

It looks like I have a RT 834 on the list I started about a month ago. Can you possibly send a picture of it to my email. It would help tremendously in looking for it in the various shelves full of radio gear. Thanks Lee whenlde@aol.com

Thanks for the response. I do not have a physical example to photograph but an example from the TM which I will send. Please be advised that this item has a "Data Plate" that lists its nomenclature and serial number, which is RT-834/GRC. TM photo to follow.

Thank you,

Thank you, that is going to help. By this weekend I will have emptied all 5 containers. There is a good possibility that there may be more than one.
