Tech question on prc77

Post by 42GPW » Wed May 04, 2022 7:01 pm

So I bought a prc-77 and have two different types of battery packs that I can power up the radio. The light will come on when I turn the switch. When I key in the handset I hear a clicking noise inside the radio. I have set my FM radio station to the proper Channel and also my 77 to the proper frequency and it is still not breaking squelch or interrupting the signal on the FM radio. When I opened up my 77 there is a module that has a hole in it. Probably a de Milling. Is there anyone that sells these modules? Like Fair radio or any other businesses? Or is there anyone that can work on this radio and get it up and running?

Hi Matt,
Is the hole in the A50 module? (TX mixer). Or the A40 module?

The A40 module is the crystal reference module for the Khz. Luckily it's a simple module to replace that requires no adjustment after install.
