What is need for spares BC-659
Hello,
I have a BC 659 (SCR 610) and I would like to figure out what spare tubes would have been stored within the power supply. I have a TM and for some reason I can not locate what spares the until would have came with.
Also, is there a chart out there that shows the frequency of each channel, fo example crystal #32 would be XX.XX mHz?
Any input would be great.
Thank you,
Brett

Re: What is need for spares BC-659
Brett,
I don't believe that the "spares kit" contents is listed in any of the three editions of TM 11-615. I have one somewhere and if/when I come across it, will post the contents.
The Crystal & Channel Frequency chart (in KC) for SCR-609/610 is on page 51 of the 1945 edition of TM 11-615. I tried to attach it as a PDF but that isn't an allowed file type. For some strange reason, I wasn't able to reduce the file size below 324 KB when converted to .JPG. It may be attached as a much smaller .TIF but I won't know for sure until I save this.

Well, it is supposedly attached, but so far I haven't been able to open it. If you will PM me your email address, I will send it to you as a PDF.
By right-clicking it, I was able to open & view it with both Imaging and IrfanView.

If your power supply is a PE-120A or B, you should have a spare vibrator either a VB-12A-6 volt, VB-13A-12 volt or VB-11A-24 volt attached to the clip inside the unit. A 6 amp-25 volt fuse is also attached to a clip inside the unit. CS-137 crystal holder box which contains the 120 crystals goes inside also in the space provided. To my knowledge, these are the only items that go inside the power unit.

Wow, thank you guys.
My power supply only has the small glass fuse. I will now be on the hunt for the 6 volt spare vibrator and CS-137 crystal box. Thank you CJV-35.
Thank you Robert for posting the freq list.
If anyone has these parts for sale, please PM me when you have time.

Initially they were issued with a CH-72 chest with 2 complete sets of tubes,1 handset,1 headset,1 T17 mic,1 antenna and a complete set of crystals in a BX-32 box. When they changed to the CH-96,the spare tubes were placed in a BX-57 and the crystals were in the BX-40 while the rest of the spare components along with the CH-73 with alignment tools and vibrator supply spares were placed in the CH-96.

That chest would be a wonderful score.

The numbers stamped on the top of the ft-43 crystals issued with the set, with the decimal point moved one space to the left corresponds to the frequency of the crystal in MegaHertz ( MHz ) FM. For instance, crystal 296 would correspond to 29.6 MHz fm, which is the10 meter simplex frequency, and one of the frequencies I would recommend you install in your BC-659.
On the east coast, we use crystals 296 and 291, corespondimg to frequencies 29.6 MHz fm and 29.1 MHz fm. These two frequencies are in the phone section of the 10 meter Ham radio band on the band plan published by the US based Amateur Radio Relay League ( ARRL), and use will keep licensed Ham Radio Operators out of trouble here in the US and in Europe.
