Hello all,
does anyone have info on the differences between an original MP-48-A mast base and one of the repros? How are the repros marked (e.g., are the Ohio Brass MP-48-A repros)? Are there/should there be great price differences between original and repros (I see no consistency in pricing through WWW)?
Thanks, Jeff

Re: MP-48-A repros vs original?
A original is a original. A reproduction is a reproduction. Me feeling is that the reproduction is much to expensive. For a nice original I pay that price or more without a problem.
The question is, why to buy reproductions??? The same with the antenna mast sections? Why repro stuff in a much more bad quality when I can find originals without a problem?

To answer one of your questions, yes, there are Ohio Brass marked repro MP-48-A mast bases. And there are Ohio Brass originals. So the markings themselves are not necessarily an indicator of originality....

How can you tell the difference between the original and reproduction bases?

Re: MP-48-A repros vs original?
Thanks for the replies.
I started thinking there were repros out there when I found more than a few Ohio Brass MP-48-As that looked NOS. And a couple of threads on this board confirmed that they are/were being made.
Did/does that company that makes the repros also make shipping boxes for them?
I get the argument of using an original however if the repros are well made (i.e., in quality and authentically) and function as well as an original, then why not also use them.

Re: MP-48-A repros vs original?
Today many of the reproductions are undetectable from the originals specially in the case of MP48A bases. Beware of anything sold as original NOS unless it has the original factory box with the manufacturers name and contract number printed on the box not stenciled.
