Head to Major Surplus and Survivial on the web. www.majorsurplusnsurvival.com. They are selling cot covers for 12.95 . They are canvas olive drab. I have already repaired 3 army cots for our squad. The covers will give you many years of good service.

I can vouch for these covers... I replaced the covers on two cots. They are good quality.

Greg, are they designed to slip over the wood like the Korean War cots or to be stapled to the wood like WWII? I have 3 WWII cots and 1 Korean War. The WWII cots are rivetted together and the Korean War cot is bolted. Are all WWII cots and Korean War cots like these? In other words, if the replacement canvas is designed to be slipped over the wood, then the sewn-in tubes will need to be cut so I can staple them.

Two years ago, I bought 8-10 cots, selected from a pile of over a hundred. I selected them all based on the color of the canvas (khaki and or OD 3), at a State surplus auction. When I checked the dates they all ranged from '41 to '45 (My lucky day, I guess). They were from a variety of manufacturers, and almost all had the wood frames riveted at the hinge points. None hade the canvas stapled to the frame. The one that was bolted, appeared to have had two wood pieces replaced (and perhaps thats when the rivets were removed and bolts used instead.

I guess my point is that replacing the middle hinge rivets with bolts would be another option, and be equally "correct" to stapling the canvas to the frame.

Just my $.02...

What we did was replace the bolts in the middle, worked well. You can't beat the price. Here in Erie I took the cot to a canvas tent repair / rental shop. They gave me a quote for 50.00 to repair my cot. I felt 12.00 was a far better deal since I found the cot in someone trash.

To revive this very old topic as it is still applicable after all these years.

I am looking for a replacement drab colored canvas top for one of my WW2 field cots. Does anyone know where they have these? As Marjor Surplus and Survival don’t have them anymore.

Many thanks.

zepher11,

Thanks. That seems a good last resort as their price for just the cover canvas is that of, if you are a bit lucky, a complete cot.

Therefore if anyone know a surplus shop or anything that has them, then please let me know. That would be great and much appreciated. Many thanks.

Try SOF in the UK.

Even with overseas shipping they are much cheaper than ATF.
