WTB: M1 carbine blank adapter

Post by hounddog7 » Tue Aug 07, 2018 9:19 am

Hi, I am looking for a Atlantic Wall or Ravenna Armory M1 carbine clip-on style blank adapter with the screw set also. No Danish or German blank adapters.

Post here or pm me if you have one with prices.

Is it an original carbine? I understand not wanting to do this to an original, but the cleanest way to blank adapt a carbine is to drill and tap the barrel. Any decent gunsmith should be able to do this and re-crown the end of the rifling down the bore. I did my Auto Ordnance/Kahr M1 carbine this way. Just my 2 cents...

i have a korean return winchester m1 carbine that i have used for reenacting in the past,(i have an original early war winchester m1 carbine that i wouldnt dream of using for reenacting).i bought a good used barrel at a gun show for fifty dollars, and had a gun smith friend of mine drill and tap the barrel for a blank adapter.and replaced the older barrel with the newer barrel.atlantic wall suggests you buy two or three differnt size blank adapters to see which one works the best for your rifle.and what type of blanks you are going to use.hope this helps.also, most reenacting groups dont allow clip on blank adapters.i do have two of that type that i never use if your interested .p.m. me if interested.correction.i have the military type.the big ugly ones with the red tip.sorry for the misinfo.

Get a beater carbine (even a decent commercial one will do) and have a competent gunsmith D&T the barrel. The reason Ravenna Armory stopped making their clip on adapters is because there were repeated instances of them being shot off. The only thing holding a clip-on to the gun is the front sight key and pin - which are relatively soft material. If one of those shears, the whole front sight and adapter are going downrange, and I guarantee the damage to the barrel will be far more noticeable than an internally-threaded muzzle. Make sure you start with a very large aperture either way, with brand new springs my carbine runs at a .170 opening.
