Replica Zyklon B canister for sale

Post by B.C. » Wed Feb 26, 2014 8:52 am

I recently moved and in doing so found a few things I forgot I had. This is one of the things I found.

A friend's father brought home an original paper label from a 200 gram ZYKLON B cyanide crystal canister when he came home from Europe after the war. The two color label has all the normal cautions and skulls & crossbones you would expect, all in German, of course.

Many years ago my friend had a small number of the label reproduced. He found a food product in an identically sized cardboard canister with metal ends. He painted the cans gray like the original ones were, and marked the top with an eagle/swastika stamp and the words KONZENTRATIONSLAGER AUSCHWITZ and the date 13 IV 1943 stamped below the eagle. The canister is about 4-3/4" high and about 4" in diameter. It is an amazingly good replica!

This thing has just enough dust & shelfwear to look scary real and it even rattles like the real thing would. Just the thing to place on your mantle to offend the crap out of your inlaws next time they visit.

$75 gets it mailed to your door in the lower 48.

My friend placed the original wrapper back in the album it came from, along with the rest of the photos and paper souvenirs his father brought home from Europe after the war. He is now in his 70s and treasures the album, which he will eventually pass on to one of his children or grandchildren. I'm glad he saw fit to make the label available to do a few of these canisters because I've never seen another example of this rare and infamous artifact.

Okay... Why the frick would you want that on your shelf?

I'm going to enjoy these answers and the ensuing conversations. Can't see how you find humor in that.

Now we find out who counts themselves among humanity or among neanderthals.

Your observation is based on the false premise that there is "humor" in it.

There is absolutely nothing funny about it.

I would want it in my collection to display - and remind people of things they should not forget . . . especially the young ones that have no idea what it represents.

It is history - and history must be preserved . . . so we don't have to go through it again. The idea would be to advance civilization by not repeating the very bad parts of our history. Repeating the bad parts of history will only lead us back to the stone age . . . you know, where the neanderthals lived.

Attempted humor.

That is what I was referring to.

To each their own, but a bit odd and disturbing to many of us.
