9th Service Command

Post by halifaxgroup » Fri Jun 25, 2021 4:19 am

I have seen a patch of what appears to be a 9th Service Command on the right shoulder of a PFC. However the center "star" is red not blue. What is the significance? Also it is an early color photo and the uniform looks to be blue rather than OD. Comments/insight? Photo shared by this Vets son. Thanks Paul

Are you saying that the innermost section is red (within the white "circle" on a blue base)?

There are known 9th Service Command variants in Blue on Red base and Red on White base (instead of white on blue). If the center alone is red it may have been GI-done.

I just found out that the photograph was originally Black and White that was Colorized.

So I'm sure it was originally Blue on White and an OD uniform. Thanks! Paul
