Engineers box purpose?

Post by thompsonbarrels » Sat Jan 16, 2021 10:54 pm

Hello-
Can anyone tell me what the confirm of this chest would have been? From the table of contents, I would estimate a "plotters" chest, pencils, pin's, slide rule, etc. What would the abbreviations on the exterior denote? F.A. = Field Artillery? C.P.= Command Post?

Thank you!

I believe you have a field drafting set. If it is a field drafting set, there would originally have been a set of props to allow the lid to be used as an angled drawing board.
