Info on French company
I have shelter halves that are brand new and so far only marking are Societe Ariel Aizenay. I have found where Aizenay is but not much on the company and trying to find out at least the era. The have the button closures and light kakhi and fabric. Will look closer and pics but maybe someone might help. Thanks

Re: Info on French company
Hi Steve,
It's indeed difficult to find information about the Ariel company.
It started to produce military clothing in 1951.
I have found that they were also producing tents.
Marking
The company grew up from 20 workers, at the very beginning in 1951, up to 200 workers in 1954 before falling into bankruptcy.
Then it continued to produce clothing up to the end of the Eighties through merges and acquisitions.
The facility was eventually converted into a furniture production facility.(1998)
It looks like that the site was shutdown during the Nineties.
Picture of the facility
Under the the words, it seem that this facility fell "under control" of strong unions, which was very common in the textile industry in France.
The site has experienced long-term strikes which for sure did not help in maintaining the activity.
So I believe your half shelters could be dated from 1951 to 1954 or even up to 1960. (Indochina or Algeria wartime ?)
I understand that the company was still making military clothing up to the beginning of the sixties
i hope that this information will help you.

Very helpful and yes that is what the label is printed shows. I will look and see if there might be a date stamp somewhere on it. Very well made and I like the button closures instead of the snaps.

Yes it's very well made, and today Japanese people are still collecting the Ariel military clothes as fashion very durable clothing.Steve Webb wrote: ↑Mon Jan 11, 2021 3:56 amVery helpful and yes that is what the label is printed shows.
