Markings for scout car, 35 division
Hi all, I would like to honor my Uncle who was a WW 2 vet assigned to the 35 Division. I would like to put those division marking on my scout car. Will someone tell me how to do this? Thanks, Rob

I would recommend contacting "Rick Larsen Military Stencils and Decals" 413-269-0058 8am-3pm EST Mon thru Wen. Thursday and Friday by email rick@militarystencils.com. www.militarystencils.com. He is VERY knowledgeable about the proper markings for a variety of WWII vehicles. He has supplied ALL the stencils for my GPW, MB, Bantam, Ben-Hur, CCKW, WC-54 and M3 Halftrack. When I had questions about any proper markings, size and placement he knew exactly what was needed.
That is great you're honoring your uncle and his Service.

Re: Markings for scout car, 35 division
In case anyone is curious, he means 35th Infantry Division. There was no 35th Armored Division. 35th Reconnaissance Troop (Mecz) was in 35th ID in 1944-45.
If there was a 35th Armored Division and he meant that, the recon unit would have been a squadron not a troop.

Hello,
That will be great !
It was the Division depicted in Kelly's Heroes for one thing
Here is some information about the 35th Infantry Division, quite an impressive combat record !!!
All over the ETO battlefields !!

35th Cavalry Reconnaissance Troop (Mechanized) is listed as a part of the Division.

Re: Markings for scout car, 35 division
Hello,
Maybe look for pictures from WW2 to get the best markings for the recon unit.
I did find you this little tidbit, on youtube, a great film on the 35th.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NF4NdFqgDIk
At the 11:16 mark, there is a clear shot of an M8 belonging to the Recon Cavalry unit of the 35th,
showing their Cavalry unit crest !
That would look great on your scout car
PS- This was President Truman's WW1 Division, and he reviewed and visited with them in Germany in 1945
Best Regards,
Ray
