Re: Tiger tank sent to the USA

Well speaking as a self confessed slack jawed yokel panzer fan I can offer the following - the one shown is referred to as the Herr Hoebig Tiger formerly at Panzermuseum Munster
Tiger I that was displayed at the Munster Panzer Museum, also known as The FrankenTiger, is going to be returned to its owner.
The Tiger was displayed at Munster Museum from April 2013 until 2016. Herr Hoebig, who reconstructed this tank, was once the owner of the Trun scrapyard in Normandy. Knowing that several Tiger I's were cut up in that scrapyard, he probably took all the Tiger I bits and pieces and started welding them back together again. Some other parts like the barrel and wheels came from Latvia (Kurland area) and the hull and front wheels came from Nahabino military training grounds. The tracks are almost all full reproductions. The tank, which currently consists of 90% out of original parts, is most probably an empty hull missing theengine and gearbox (just like the Jagdpanther displayed at Sinsheim, which is also a gathering of several hull and running gear parts) Most likely this is not the only tiger Herr Hoebig is working on, and the museum announced that their will be a new tank added from the Tiger family to there collection, so maybe it is the second Tiger from the Herr Hoebig collection.

There is a replica currently at the Panzermuseum Munster (see below)
A few weeks ago we showed some leaked photos of a Tiger I replica, that was being build in south-east Berlin by Harald Kaiser a technical government officer and a senior engineer at the technology centre for camouflage and deception. that replica is now done and is ready for the journey to the German Panzermuseum Munster.

Hope that helps

The original post was about a Tiger that was recently imported in to the US, somewhere around Long Island. The first link you posted is about the right tank.
Awww shucks man, that makes my day
You do realize that the linked storries you posted are 2 and 7 years old respectively?
Yes its called context. For me the challenge is using the circumstances that form the setting for an event, statement, or idea, and in terms of which it can be fully understood.
From another slack-jawed yokel... (not even really much of a Panzer fan). For me the challenge is the search!

Lovely photo. My question remains: How did it get "there"? And who is the guy in the photo? Might he enlighten us all? Curious is all.
Stay well all. Eddie

"Yes, it's called context...etc". What you wrote makes no sense, no disrespect intended. It simply doesn't.

It may have gone to a private collector who's not involved with any clubs or organizations and doesn't show off his/her collection. There are people out there like that. Matt
At a guess Id say someone like the Bob Graebe Collection, just outside of St. Louis, Missouri - they recently got a FAMO from Germany

Do you need an 80% orig FAMO to tow an 80% orig Tiger ? Asking for a friend :D

Full disclosure
  • these photos aren't recent (2019)
  • have been included for general interest (other slack jawed panzer fan yokels)
  • included to reference the FAMO(context)
