Walther LP-38 Flare Pistol

Post by Hammerhead » Fri Jan 24, 2020 3:01 pm

I have a mint Walther LP-38 Flare Pistol dated 1941. It shoots the 26.5 mm flares. I've been told that Marine/Boating stores have that size flares for sale. Has anyone actually fired one of these flare guns and do the modern 26.5mm flares actually work in it? Thanks.

I have fired my LP34 & LP42 on numerous occasions using the surplus 26.5mm flares sold at gun shows.

I have fired WWII German Issue from my Walther, both single and multiple colors, One hote of caution is avoid the flares landing on things that burn as the flares (Phosphorus) cannot be extinguished.

Also be careful where you fire them. People consider them a sign of distress even on land. You don't want to explain yourself to the cops if someone calls them thinking you're in trouble!
