I’ll have to check out on getting a spot. If I have it running correctly by then I don’t see a problem. I have friends that have acreage I can do some test runs on before running it at the event. Unless I blow my motor up or break the final drive I should be readyJohn Neuenburg wrote: ↑Wed Nov 14, 2018 5:47 pmCamp Plymouth in Plymouth, CA is the 2019 location for the military vehicle swap meet/shows that have been in Petaluma for two years, Tower Park near Lodi for 13 years, and two other places since the 1970s. It will be April 16-21, 2019 at 49er RV Village and the adjacent Amador County Fairgrounds. Biggest annual military vehicle events in the West. I don’t know about spring swap meets only this show in Plymouth.John Neuenburg wrote: ↑Wed Nov 14, 2018 12:23 pmGreat project! Are you going to take it to the Camp Plymouth meet next April? That's the place to show it off. Do you know about the annual Spring swap meet/MV shows in California?

There is a rodeo arena at the fairgrounds where we will do two themed MV showcases on Friday. If you bring your tank you could exercise it in that arena with the steel track grousers. Maybe we could schedule demonstrations on the official activities schedule? It might be OK to drive it around fairgrounds dirt/grass areas. We have rented the fairgrounds for our dry camping village, visitor parking lot, and to get that arena for displays.

Here is a website showing supposedly all existing FT-17. At the bottom is a link to the US M1917s.
http://the.shadock.free.fr/Surviving_FT-17.pdf
On the M1917 page you will find the tank owned by Hayes Otoupalik in Montana. It carries a live 37mm gun. Says it's the only one with a live one.
Here is the gun outside of the turret:

Re: WW1 Tank replica build
I actually briefly talked to Hayes Otoupalik he congratulated me on my replica. It’s nice getting feedback on it gives me more fuel to finish. I’m very eager to see the cannon go off while the turret is installed on the chassis this time! 20mm bag gun seems very realistic in comparison to the 37mm. Hayes is a lucky guy to own the real McCoyJohn Neuenburg wrote: ↑Sat Nov 17, 2018 8:57 amHere is a website showing supposedly all existing FT-17. At the bottom is a link to the US M1917s.

I'll never forget Hayes loading his tank after the Denver MVPA Convention. Had to drive up a ramp onto a big trailer. He was slowly going up the 45 degree slope, looking up at the sky, couldn't see the deck, up and up and up like tanks do coming out of a ditch. Got so where the front half was off the deck. Then it tipped forward and BOOM, onto the trailer. There must have been some pucker power going on there.

Re: WW1 Tank replica build
Thank man! I don’t have many original drawings mostly have a lot of pictures and a 1/16 model I scaled up. I also have height and length and width of original so when I would scale up a part I make sure it fits in right with the overall length of a original. I would like to see a original and get much more accurate measurements on all parts maybe even a 3D scan. Now that I know process of building something like this I’d like to build another! I haven’t signed up for any events I figure I’d start looking for ways to show it once it running.Don Shaffer wrote: ↑Sat Nov 17, 2018 8:30 amWOW What a Build !!! I want one ! Now that be something to see! I’d be afraid of bouncing my head around. There’s a 4ft rock wall in my backyard I been thinking about climbing test the integrity of the trench tailJohn Neuenburg wrote: ↑Sat Nov 17, 2018 12:11 pmI'll never forget Hayes loading his tank after the Denver MVPA Convention. Wear your full faced motorcycle helmet! Better yet, a car racing helmet because those are designed to take multiple impacts in the same spot.
