Oven pipe through M 1950 tent
Hi
I want to use a small oven in a M 1950 Hexi tent.
The exhaust pipe goes through the tent. How to secure it from going up in flames from the hot pipes? There was an asbestos thing around one pipe, but no longer there.
ANy suggestions how to use the oven?
Greetz

Plumbers use a mat/blanket to put between combustable material and pipes if they are soldering on remodels. I don't know anything more than that since I'm an electrician but you should be able to find out more by talking to a plumber or go to a supply house. Just wire should secure it around the pipe.

You put the pipe through the stove jack that's already on the tent.

Yeah, but the pipe get´s hot and I dont´want to put the tent on fire.
I found something similar to that plumber fire protection blanket here in Germany

I guess, this will work. It is flexible, so just bend around pipe and stick it through hole in the tent roof

Use 4" double wall B vent. you can get it at any plmb and Heating store. they also lock together to form a tight seal.

We have run single wall Govt' issue stove pipe thru all of our WWII to Vietnam tents and never had a problem. That is with having the potbelly glowing orange! The seal has a burn rating that may not be as good as aspestoes but it works.

Actually,
There is a US made metal grommet that fits inside the hole of the tent to protect from such things. The fabric on the tent was not made to have direct contact with the stove stack directly. The metal grommet was designed to disperse the heat into the special fabric. You can probably find this at most surplus stores in the US.

Re: Oven pipe through M 1950 tent
Do you need the metal part the pipe goes through so it does not touch the tent? I have several here that I got years ago when I bought a bunch of the M1941 tent stoves. I think me and Wessels are taking about the same part.
If you need one, send me a Pm and I will get you one down range.
