M2 Tripod Cover Use

Post by 17thAirborne » Sun Mar 26, 2023 4:10 pm

I do not have the TM for the M1919A4, and cannot find any references for how to correctly install it on the M2. Does the T&E or the trunion go in the pouch? I have never seen the correct method of using it. Any images would help.

Thanks
Oz

Check out this older post, although the pics are gone from the top post, scrolling down shows several:

Worthpoint shows one with the T&E inside the bag here:

Thanks for that. I could not find a pic showing it installed, and the T&E has to be completely screwed in to get it to fit. I suspect the pintle stayed attached to the gun.

Excellent

Here is what I ended up doing using the mint cover provided generously by OB (Thanks)

1. Fully collapse (screw in) the T&E mechanism and remove the large pin, otherwise it is too long to fit the outer pouch.
2. Stuff it in the bag at a slight angle so that the cover will snap closed.
3. Insert the M2 into the pouch opening
4. Pull the drawstring somewhat taught and tie it off.

Still looking for a TM drawing or illustration showing it in use to confirm. I know this seems like a simple thing, but it is nice to display things properly or at least know what is the accepted manner and the field solution.
