FS WWII Japanese Nikko Trench Observation Scopes- "Spider Sc

Post by johnseidts » Tue Mar 22, 2016 12:06 pm

WWII Japanese Nikko Trench Periscope. Marked 8 X 6, with excellent optics, case, and original tripod. This artillery observation item is the very desirable spider scope. The case has some minor issues, but is still relatively solid. The only issue with them is one of the eyepiece lens surrounds (bakelite) was broken at one time, but somebody did a good job glueing it back together. These are very nice but I can't keep everything. $600 shipped plus 3% paypal fees.

Definitely an interesting item, but why would it have any English writing on it? That's guessing it's a Japanese WWII item, which might be a bad assumption.
Is it true real Jeeps have flat fenders?
Alone cannot you it resist!

FYI,
These are WWII-built, or at least there are no post-WWII versions I am aware of. I had two other WWII-era Japanese optical instruments before this one, and both of them had the name of the manufacturer in English like this one. I would assume that they put them there for the same reason we sent Studebaker and Willys products to Russia with the manufacturer nomenclature in English and instructions in Russian: name recognition for possible future business opportunities. Nikko is now known as Nikon.
