1946 106mm Recoilless Rifle value

Post by Doug L. » Thu Jun 19, 2014 3:05 pm

Hi, I know a guy locally who's wanting to sell me his decommissioned 106mm. Different parts have been welded for legal reasons. I was wanting to know what would be a fair price to pay? I was told it's an early 106mm used in the Korean War and brought back to the U.S. The guy found it in a landfill here in MS and paid $50 for it 5 years ago. It's been sitting where it is ever since.

Would this be correct for a '42 GPW?

Thanks!
Doug

Nice Fine! Looking in TM 9-500, Sept 1962, it appears you have a "Rifle 105mm: M27 or M27A1" and "Mount Rifle: 105 mm, M75 or M75A1". The breech end should have markings to verify what you have.

The M40A1, 106mm Recoiless Rifle uses a M79 Mount, which is a completely different mount from what your pictures show.

Value, I have no idea.

M40A1s with dummy spotter rifle....nicer exterior conditions run about $9-11,000.....never seen one of those for sale!

Thanks for the info! I can now confirm it's 105mm. Does that make it worth more or less? What kind of condition does it appear to be in and what year is it from?

Thanks a lot!

Hello Doug. To answer your question about mounting this on a 1942 GPW. If your intent is to portray a vehicle during WWII no this would not be correct to mount on your jeep. Recoilless Rifles were used for the first time in Europe about March 1945. The M-18 (57mm) and M-20 (75mm) would be what you are looking for.

Hi: Do you still have the M-27 RR? Would be interested in buying it for serious money. Alan @ 850-420-0455 call or text

Maybe not. It's almost an 8 year old post.

Hi Alan,

Unfortunately, the gentlemen that originally offered the rifle to me passed a few years ago. The rifle, as far as I know, is still sitting in the same place. Not entirely sure who took over his estate. If the opportunity presents, I'll reach out to you.

Thanks,
Douglas
