Re: Happiness is: Finished M2-2 Flame Thrower Project
Well, it only took eight years more to get it on a mannequin...
"Sparky" taking a break.
The wood ammo crate absorbs the weight of the M2-2... which becomes the anchor for the lightweight Yanks mannequin thanks to the chest and shoulder straps. All of the clothing is original down to the Australian 1942 socks (which no one can see). Not minty but I'm pretty sure that helmet and those P42 trousers and boondockers were "there".

Wow. Excellent job. I can't imagine the hours you have into this project. Curious as to what's the next big project?

Absolutely fantastic mate...
Has given me inspiration to re visit my set up and try and finish it, here in Australia parts are impossible to get.
Still need some small items to finish it off such as tank caps etc...
Cheers

Re: Happiness is: Finished M2-2 Flame Thrower Project
Thank you all for the kind remarks.
Breaking the code on getting FT parts (originals or good replicas) was made easier through mutual friends who were doing their own (and, perhaps, wanted some of the parts from the CWS Service Kit I bought here on the G? LOL).
This display has inspired me to consider buying another Yanks mannequin, seated, to accompany this guy. It would be a full officer field uniform, c. Okinawa campaign, currently in a USMC footlocker marked to, you guessed it, an Okinawa vet 2LT. I've come to the conclusion that if the stuff is packed away I'm less interested in owning it anymore. That will explain the collection-purged items I've been selling over the last year.
If you go to the Louisville show (July, 2021) stop by and say hi. I'm the (only) seller with the weird pegboard display contraption (as seen in 2020 below)...
Next project? I'm thinking the 1943 LW SC250 incendiary bomb I got from John Seidts is going to get some overdue attention this year. I had to cold-chisel and drill the old ("demilled" and incorrect) fuze from the fuze well. The pucker factor got a little high when I thought I'd encountered a gaine under the fuze... What's that expression? "What doesn't kill you... makes for a great den display"?
