M16A2 Receiver

Post by raymond » Mon Jan 23, 2023 5:28 am

Looking for a M16A2 built in carry handle upper receiver.
Can be black or gray.
Can be complete or stripped or even a little salty looking as I know of a place that can re anodize.
I'm building a new 20 inch upper to run on my M16A1 registered receiver lower.
Been running a mid length gas system 16 inch upper with hydraulic buffer but would like to slow down rate of fire a little more.
Does not have to have any certain forge marks, brand markings, nor does it have to have been a military upper receiver, commercial just as good for what I'm doing.
All the usual places currently showing OOS.

Friend who works in the aluminum industry in the St. Louis area.
Can get stuff done at work privately.

I used Norrells blackish gray.

Here is a comparison with an original Colt carbine.

Sounds like A2 upper receivers are currently unobtanium, at least until the next batch is out.
A customer rep at Model 1 Sales told me they will have them back in stock some time but couldn't say when.
They put me on a waiting list.
Only other option is to pay scalper prices on GunBroker or the Equipment Exchange over at AR15.com.

Found an old used Colt with the "C M" forge mark.
