For Sale: 1943 Wooden Ben Hur Trailer

Post by Dave A. » Thu Jan 26, 2023 6:42 am

I have two so it is time to let this one go.

This is a 1943 Ben Hur 1 ton trailer that has the original wood floor and wood sides. It has all five bows, the two end gates, and I replaced the reflectors with marble ones. It is complete, tows very well and looks good with any WWII truck. Have driven it in parades and a few events so there seems to be no mechanical issues. There is a small hole in the bed, but I was going to put glue filler to cover it. You should be able to see the small hole in the photos. Nice trailer!

Located in Dayton, Ohio and asking $4000.

I have seen that trailer and it is nice. I bought my K-38 from Dave and told my wife we need to figure out a way to get it into the Ben Hur and leave before Dave noticed we were gone but didn't work out

Very nice! Anybody wanting a trailer would do well to buy this. I can tell you right away you are looking at $500 plus for tires and $500 for the wood for the racks only. Enough wood for the entire trailer would be thousands today.

Interesting yellow paint on the brake handle. I've not seen that before. But my trailer has yellow marks around the grease zerks, a feature I plan to put back after it's restored and painted.

The two 7.50X20's will cost 1100.00! I just purchased ONE tire from Coker and it was 545.00!

BEAUTIFUL trailer and I wish you well on the sale! I've seen these trailers in WWII period pictures pulled behind Ambulances, Weapon's Carrier's, and Halftracks in addition to the larger trucks like the CCKW. I really love my Ben-Hur. This one will make a great addition to someone's collection.

I bought my tires only 3 years ago... I have not been paying attention to prices. Yikes!!!

Just wanted to say thank you for all those who responded to this post. Your comments are welcomed. I thought the price for this original trailer was a good one, but no one has talked to me about purchasing it.

I think I may take it to Findlay, Ohio show or just decide to keep it.

Hello.

I posted this trailer for sale in January. Had a number of folks who were interested but I always go with the first person to contact me and, if they are not interested, move to the next on the list. Well, the first person was interested but had a few mechanical problems with his truck and trailer and was unable to pick it up.

Yesterday, he came over and retrieved it; soooooooo...this trailer has been sold.
