Rolled a frame out of the bone yard to create a casket platform for an upcoming military funural procession. I thought this frame would make an easy job of it as I was thinking of just sliding in a full piece of 3/4" ply into the side channels and run some large pan head screws through the side channel holes and maybe come up through the bottom crossmembers with short pan head screws so that the ply slab would not have any bolt or screw heads sticking up from the top. But the more I examined this frame, the bolt holes in the side channels line up with holes in the bottom of the side channel, like carriage bolts ran through them and the crossmembers have unevenly spaced holes in them for deck boards and possibly skid strips, I believe. So, just wondering if this is a typical Ben Hur steel tub frame, or if this is only for wooden deck tubs.
Is this a Ben Hur wooden trailer frame?

Yup that's a wood body frame. Are your drawbar reinforcements "fish mouthed"? Every wood body Ben Hur frame I've seen, the drawbars have a triangle opening or mouth to the end of the reinforcement, where as the steel body ones will be angled, or square.

Here's a pic. Got three metal Ben Hurs down in the woods that I haven't checked to see if they are square. Great place for wasps to build nests.

Yes, that's certainly a wood body frame.

Well, I'm not going to do any alterations or modifications to it for my burial detail transport, only bolting on a slab of ply. So, if anyone wants it when I'm done it's in GA.

Interesting . . . I went to put some tail lights on it for appearance only and my "normal" Ben Hur tail light brackets are taller than the actual metal frame, so they will not work. I will pull some MBT brackets out of the stash and see if the bolt holes line up. But, it would appear that the wood trailer frames were a shorter C channel frame than the metal tub Ben Hurs.
