My Converto and friends

Post by Robin » Thu Jan 20, 2022 6:19 pm

Thought I'd share photos of my restored Converto. Only needs the wiring harness to be complete. My shop is a little full so getting clear photos is tough.

Great photos Robin. Thanks for that. Lots of great angles for reference.
And I thought 15 jerry cans were too many in my collection...

Good Morning Robin:

A very cool collection! You almost have enough stuff to start a small museum! I never got much into the heraldry of jerry cans. Of the 134, which one is the most unique?

Thanks for posting pictures of your key pieces.

Regards,

Walter

Three come to mind. A Nesco 1941 that was assembled upside down. A US can that was assembled at the British Magnatex factory. And the USN marked can.

  . Robin is being shy about his 'collection' I feel privileged to have visited with Robin on a couple of occasions, and his personal collection is beautiful and of the utmost quality. Thanks for sharing, Robin.

I was recently indirectly called on this forum "basement-dwelling evaluator" by one of the members here. Kind of an odd thing to say since I have many years of experience restoring WW2 vehicles and other artifacts back to perfect original condition.
Just in case anyone cares, here's a picture taken this afternoon of myself on the left, Lloyd White and MVPA president Tom Clark at far right visiting my collection for the third time. Doesn't seem like those two highly regarded MV enthusiasts would waste their time at a "basement-dwelling evaluator's" place.

I had to jump in here. I've been to this "basement-dwelling evaluators" home and been given the Nickle Tour several times. What I experienced was nothing short of a High Dollar Museum Tour. Robin has been most gracious when sharing His collection and to witness the level of enthusiasm beaming from His eyes about W.W. 2 Trucks and Material is astounding. He certainly knows His history when it comes to His extensive collection.
